The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization (WHO) has two open calls for researchers.
These calls are part of the IARC Research Training and Fellowship Programme and are exclusively intended for researchers living and working in countries classified as low- or middle-income, such as Brazil.
The selection processes consist of a pre-selection stage, with results announced in July, and a second stage with online interviews, to be held between August and September, with final results published in October.
Applications for both calls are open until May 9, 2025, and must be submitted online.
Postdoctoral Fellowships
The IARC Postdoctoral Fellowships call is intended for researchers who obtained their Ph.D. no more than five years prior to the application deadline or the start of the programme — in other words, Ph.D. candidates who have not yet defended must do so before the beginning of the fellowship.
Medical Doctors (MD) who have completed three years of residency and obtained a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree are also eligible.
The fellowship lasts for two years and provides a monthly stipend of €2,950.00, plus €100.00 per month for health insurance. IARC also covers round-trip travel expenses to Lyon, France, where the postdoctoral fellowship will take place.
Mid-Career Visiting Scientist Award
The Mid-Career Visiting Scientist Award is intended for researchers at the mid-career stage. Applicants must have obtained their Ph.D. at least five years ago and no more than fifteen years ago, calculated from the application deadline.
A stipend of €2,820.00 is offered to cover accommodation and living expenses. IARC also covers round-trip travel expenses to Lyon.
