The Projeto Oncociência – a university outreach initiative developed at the Universidade de São Paulo to disseminate scientific content and combat misinformation about cancer – has released the first episode of the Papo Oncociência podcast on Spotify.
In this new episode, Alessandra Appugliese, a Public Health undergraduate student, and Marcos Coelho, a Biomedical Sciences undergraduate student, interview Professor Maria Del Pilar Estevez Diz, Director of the Clinical Staff and Coordinator of Clinical Oncology at the Instituto do Câncer do Estado de São Paulo (ICESP), and a specialist in gynecological cancers.
Throughout the episode, they discuss cervical cancer and its connection to HPV infection, other HPV-related cancers, the relationship between social conditions and HPV prevalence, the importance of prophylactic vaccination, the potential impact of therapeutic vaccines for treating HPV-related cancers, preventive measures against HPV, and they also debunk myths about vaccines, cancer, and HPV.
