“Projeto Oncociência” interviews Professor Gilberto de Castro Junior

Projeto Oncociência – a university extension project developed at the University of São Paulo (USP) to promote scientific knowledge and combat misinformation about cancer – has published the second episode of the Papo Oncociência podcast on Spotify.

In the new episode, the guest is Professor Gilberto de Castro Junior, Head of the Thoracic Oncology and Head and Neck Cancer Group at the São Paulo State Cancer Institute (ICESP) and adjunct professor of Oncology at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP).

The interview was conducted by student members of the project: Alessandra Appugliese, undergraduate student in Public Health; Camila Marins, undergraduate student in Public Health; Geovanna de Paula, undergraduate student in Biomedical Sciences; and Marcos Coelho, undergraduate student in Biomedical Sciences. The soundtrack was created by Helena Sancho, undergraduate student in Music at USP. Biomedical scientist and master’s student Henrique Leal also contributed.

Throughout the episode, they discuss the importance of the lungs to the human body, the impact of lung cancer, and the dangers of smoking and vaping in the development of the disease.
