Alcindo Aparecido dos Santos

He has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (1997), a master’s degree in Chemistry from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (2000), and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Universidade Federal do Paraná (2003) with a sandwich program at the University of Hamburg, Germany (2003). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute of Chemistry at USP (2003-2006). He served as a professor in the Department of Chemistry at UFSCar (2006-2009). He has been a faculty member in the Department of Fundamental Chemistry at IQ-USP since 2009 and obtained the title of Livre-Docente in March 2016. His research areas include the preparation of organic, selenium, and tellurium functional compounds, with a particular focus on the development of fluorescent agents for diagnostics and bioactive selenium and tellurium compounds, interceptors of endogenous oxidizing entities such as peroxide and hypochlorite.
