Claudiana Lameu

She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at IQ-USP since 2015. She holds a degree in Pharmacy and Biochemistry from Universidade de São Paulo (2004) and a Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, Universidade de São Paulo (2009). She completed a postdoctoral research at the Institute of Chemistry, Universidade de São Paulo (2009–2011 and 2014–2015), and at the University of Louisville (James Graham Brown Cancer Center – Stem Cell Institute) in Kentucky, USA (2011–2012). She has expertise in Cancer Neuroscience, Biochemical Pharmacology, and Experimental Oncology, with an emphasis on the development of new molecules for biotechnological and pharmaceutical applications. Her research focuses primarily on the following topics: women’s health, mechanisms of brain metastasis and chemoresistance, tumor microenvironment, with an emphasis on tumor-associated macrophages and cachexia. Currently, her research addresses the molecular mechanisms of metastasis, the generation of cancer stem cells, and the development of drugs with potential to reduce metastatic processes and other cancer-related conditions.
