He holds a degree in Biochemistry Pharmacy from Universidade de São Paulo (2000) and a Ph.D. in Sciences (Human Physiology) from Universidade de São Paulo (2004). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism, University of Oxford (2008). He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Universidade de São Paulo. He has experience in the field of Biophysics, with an emphasis on Cellular Biophysics, focusing on the following topics: biophysics of insulin and glucagon secretion by pancreatic islets, intracellular acid-base and calcium homeostasis using fluorescent protein probes, proton and fatty acid transport in planar lipid bilayers, and development of strategies for teaching physiology.
