Heidge Fukumasu

He is an Associate Professor at FZEA-USP and Head of the Department of Veterinary Medicine. He has been a CNPq Research Productivity Fellow for nine years and serves as a specialist in Animal Health on the Technical Biosafety Commission (CTNBio-MCTI). He coordinates the FAPESP Thematic Project entitled Development of Therapies and Innovative Tools for Veterinary Oncology. He also heads the Laboratory of Comparative and Translational Oncology (LOCT-USP), the Multisuser Center for Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics (BioPira), and the Veterinary Oncology Service at FZEA-USP. His research focuses on Comparative and Translational Oncology and Molecular Biology Applied to Innovation. To date, he has published 134 scientific articles with 2,973 citations and an H-index of 30. He supervised or currently supervises 36 undergraduate research students, 30 graduate students, and seven postdoctoral researchers. In March 2020, he founded the COVID-19 USP Pirassununga Task Force, which performed over 180,000 RT-PCR tests for more than 40 cities in the region and developed new diagnostic methodologies, variant sequencing, and more.
