He holds a bachelor’s and teaching degree from the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras de Ribeirão Preto da Universidade de São Paulo (1986), chemist with technological assignments (1987), obtained a master’s degree (1989) and a Ph.D. (1994) in Inorganic Chemistry from the Instituto de Química da Universidade de São Paulo, and has been a full professor at the same institution since 2006. He is the principal investigator of the Laboratory of Supramolecular Chemistry and Nanotechnology, and currently serves as coordinator of SisNANO-USP, CNPq/MAI-DAI SPRINT-USP, Unidade EMBRAPII IQSint-USP, and is a member of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences. He participated in national committees such as CNPq (07/2013 – 06/2016), CAPES (2004 – 2013), and CCNano/MCTi (2014 – 2017), he was an associate editor of JBCS (2009-2013), and a member of the editorial board of Química Nova (2001-2005). His research interests include the physical chemistry of coordination compounds, hybrid nanomaterials, and nanocomposites, with a focus on the functionalization and compatibilization of metallic nanoparticles and metal oxide/hydroxide nanoparticles, aimed at developing technological applications in the health, environment, and energy sectors.
