She holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the Universidade de São Paulo (1980), a Ph.D. in Sciences (Biochemistry) from the Universidade de São Paulo (1987), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK (1992-1993). She currently serves as an Associate Professor at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo, Head of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory, and Coordinator of the DNA Sequencing Service at the Translational Oncology Research Center of the Instituto do Câncer do Estado de São Paulo (ICESP). She held a CNPq Research Productivity Fellowship from 1990 to 2022. She has experience in Biochemistry, with an emphasis on Molecular Biology, focusing on the following areas: breast cancer, nuclear receptors, gene expression, and molecular genetics of cancer. Her primary research line involves the discovery and functional characterization of new molecular markers for cancer diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Additionally, it includes studying the functional role of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in mammary gland morphogenesis and the chemosensitivity of breast cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents using 3D culture.
