Maria Del Pilar Estevez Diz

She holds a Habilitation (Livre-Docência) from the Department of Oncology at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (2019). She earned a Master’s in Oncology and a Ph.D. in Sciences (Oncology) from the same institution. She completed her Medical Degree at FMUSP and a Medical Residency in Hematology and Hemotherapy at HC-FMUSP. She obtained the title of Clinical Oncology Specialist (1998) from the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB) and the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology, followed by specialization in Clinical Research and Palliative Care (Principles and Practice of Clinical Research Course, Harvard Medical School) and in Palliative Care and Psycho-oncology at the Universidad del Salvador, Facultad de Medicina in Buenos Aires. She is a Specialist in Hematology and Cancerology certified by the Regional Medical Council of São Paulo (CREMESP) and holds the title of Clinical Oncology Specialist in the field of Cancerology granted by the AMB and the Brazilian Society of Cancerology. Currently, she serves as the Medical Director and Clinical Oncology Coordinator at the Instituto do Câncer do Estado de São Paulo Octavio Frias de Oliveira. She is also the Technical Supervisor for the Urgent Chemotherapy Team within the Oncology Division at the Executive Board of the Instituto de Radiologia HCFMUSP. Additionally, she is a Member of the Management Committee at CPO2 (Centro de Estudos e Tecnologias Convergentes para Oncologia de Precisão, USP), an Advisory Board Member of the Centro Integrado de Doenças Genéticas (CIGEN) at FMUSP, and a Management Board Member of the Center for Intensive Medicine at the Clinical Directorate of HCFMUSP. She is the President of Brasgyn, the Brazilian Gynecologic Oncology Group.

Academic Activities: She is a Permanent Faculty Member of the Professional Master’s Program in Innovation and Technology Assessment in Oncology at FMUSP. She is responsible for and teaches the following graduate courses: MCM5931 – Functional Genomics Applied to Oncology; MCM5941 – Functional Genomics Applied to Oncology; and MCM5962 – Fundamentals of Clinical Oncogenetics. At the undergraduate level, she teaches PRG0033 – We Need to Talk About Cancer: Interdisciplinary Projects to Combat Misinformation and Prejudice, at FMUSP in collaboration with the Centro de Estudos e Tecnologias Convergentes para Oncologia de Precisão (C2PO). Additionally, she is a faculty member of the Multiprofessional Specialization Program in Oncology with a Focus on Adult Health at ICESP. She supervises Professional Master’s and Ph.D. candidates (Oncology) and Scientific Initiation students at FMUSP.

Editorial Board Member: She is a member of the editorial boards for the Brazilian Journal of Oncology, Onco Grupo Oncologia DOR Journal, Revista Medicina (FMUSP), and Autopsy and Case Reports. She serves as a reviewer for national and international journals and has participated in 83 research projects.

Research Areas: Her research focuses on gynecologic, hereditary, and breast cancer, as well as pharmacology. Her publication record includes 97 national and international articles in specialized journals as an author and co-author.
