Professors and Researchers from Icesp and FMUSP receive awards at the 2025 Congress of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology

During the 2025 edition of the Congress of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC), a group of professors and researchers affiliated with Icesp and FMUSP were honored.

Prof. Dr. Paulo M. Hoff received the “Ronaldo Ribeiro Career Award in Clinical Oncology.” This is SBOC’s most traditional award, granted in recognition of professional trajectory and the highest distinction bestowed by the society upon leading professionals in the field. Prof. Paulo Hoff is Full Professor of the Clinical Oncology Discipline in the Department of Radiology and Oncology at FMUSP, President of Oncologia D’Or, Technical Director of the Oncology Division, and member of the Board of Directors of the São Paulo State Cancer Institute (Icesp).

Prof. Dr. Luisa Lina Villa received the “Bernardo Garicochea Award for Translational Oncology Research,” which honors Brazilian scientists who stand out in translational oncology research. Prof. Luisa Villa is Head of the Cancer Innovation Laboratory at the Center for Translational Research in Oncology (CTO) of the São Paulo State Cancer Institute (Icesp) and Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology and Oncology at FMUSP.

Dr. Renata Bonadio received the “SBOC Young Oncologist Award,” the society’s main recognition for oncologists up to 40 years of age who have demonstrated significant contributions to the specialty and active engagement in research and science communication. Dr. Renata Bonadio is a medical oncologist at Oncologia D’Or and Medical Manager for Clinical Research at the D’Or Institute for Research and Education, as well as a Ph.D. candidate at FMUSP.

In addition, there were two other winners: Dr. Carlos Barrios, from the Oncology Research Center at Hospital São Lucas, received the “SBOC Research Award,” and Dr. Clarissa Mathias, from Grupo Oncoclínicas, received the “SBOC Female Leadership in Oncology Award.”

The awards were presented on November 7 during the Congress, although the winners had been announced in October.
