In the 8th edition of the Course in Molecular Oncology, organized by master’s and doctoral students from the Graduate Program in Oncology at USP, fifty undergraduate students and recent graduates experienced an immersion in the world of oncology research conducted at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) and the São Paulo State Cancer Institute (ICESP).

During the course, the graduate students themselves taught most of the classes, sharing the knowledge they acquire in the Program. In addition to the graduate students, the course had Prof. Luisa Lina Villa and Prof. Roger Chammas as academic coordinators. Professors and researchers from FMUSP/ICESP also contributed.

The 8th edition of the Course was divided into two modules: Module I took place from July 21 to 25, and Module II from July 28 to August 1.

Module I was offered to all 50 participants selected by the Committee. Module II was aimed at a group of 20 students chosen from among those who participated during the first week. These students were invited to deepen their knowledge through practical classes and training sessions conducted by researchers from the Center for Translational Research in Oncology (CTO), a laboratory complex headquartered at ICESP.

In addition to contributing to the participants’ training, the course also serves as an introduction to the Graduate Program in Oncology. Many current master’s and doctoral students in the Program were participants in previous editions.

The Organizing Committee for the 2025 edition was coordinated by doctoral students Beatrice Adrianne Silva Jorge and Vinícius Marques Rocha. The Committee also included Beatriz Fernandes de Souza, Bianca Naomi Niitsuma, Cesar Alexander Ortiz Rojas, Guilherme Giovanini, Karina Tiemy Oyama, Maria Luiza Salustiano Bandeira, Raphaela Rebeca Silveira Assunção, and Soraia Barbosa de Oliveira.
