She holds a degree in Biological Sciences from Universidade Estadual Paulista Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1988), a master’s degree in Sciences (Human Physiology) from the Universidade de São Paulo (1992), a Ph.D. in Sciences (Human Physiology) from the Universidade de São Paulo (1996), and completed postdoctoral research at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, CA. She is currently an Associate Professor 3 in the Department of Pharmacology at the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas da Universidade de São Paulo. She has experience in Pharmacology, with an emphasis on redox biochemistry, focusing primarily on the investigation of redox modulation mechanisms in cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory conditions, and cancer. Her research interests include the regulatory mechanisms of NADPH oxidase in hypertension, atherosclerosis, sepsis, and cancer. She is a member of the Society for Redox Biology and Medicine.
